Vernon Rosckes Obituary – 5/15/2023


Vernon W. Rosckes, 81, of Watertown, MN, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Cedar Crest Estates in Silver Lake, MN.

A Mass of Christian burial took place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (109 Angel Ave NW) in Watertown, with Father Peter Hughes as celebrant of the Mass

Visitation took place Monday, May 22, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the Mass Tuesday, all at the church. Interment will take place in Watertown Public Cemetery at a later date.

Vernon William Rosckes was born Sept. 28, 1941 in Watertown, the son of Carl and Cordelia (Ehalt) Rosckes. He attended Watertown High School. 

Vernon was united in marriage Jan. 10, 1959 to Elaine Rolf at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.

Vernon began farming in 1966 in Watertown, and he continued to for the rest of his life. 

He was active in his community, serving on the Watertown Township Board and the Carver County Fair Board.  In his free time, Vernon loved spending time at the cabin on Grand Lake in Coldspring, MN. 

He enjoyed participating in tractor pulls at the Carver County Fair and at Hollywood Store. Vernon also delighted in restoring antique tractors. In 2014, he was honored to host rural life Sunday Mass at his farm in Watertown.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Cordelia Rosckes; brother, Rocke Rosckes; sister, Barbara Poppler; father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Edwin and Hilma Rolf; brother-in-law, Wallace Rolf; sister-in-law, Delphine Rolf; and special friend, Paul DeNomme.

Vernon is survived by his loving family: wife, Elaine; children, Deborah (Scott) Koehnen of Watertown, Brenda Fritzke of Watertown, Daniel (Kathy) Rosckes of Watertown, Robert (Sandi) Rosckes of Hanover, MN, and Michelle (Lee) Dalchow of Hanover; grandchildren, April (Jon) Gesinger, Shawn Koehnen, Mike Fritzke, Aaron (Susan) Fritzke, Matt Rosckes, Shantell (Jason) Pawelk, Rachel Rosckes and fiancé Jaren Schmieg, Charlie (Abie) Rosckes, Jacey (Sam) Teitelbaum, Jake (Jessica) Rosckes, Lexie Rosckes, Kora (Blake Robeck) Dalchow, and Kena Dalchow; great-grandchildren, Leah, Ryan, Adam, and Noah Gesinger, Blake Koehnen, Kaila Erickson, Karissa (Ben) Haller, John Fritzke, Maggie Fritzke and Alice Fritzke, Shaylee and Bryce Rosckes, Hudson Pawelk, Dorothy Rosckes, Riley Teitelbaum, Henley Rosckes, and Maia and baby Ava Robeck (due in May); great great-grandchildren, Charlie and Burkley Erickson, and Nora and baby boy Haller (due in September); brother, Ralph and June Rosckes of Waconia, MN; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Jon Hammarberg of Chanhassen, MN, and Charlie Poppler of Silver Lake; special neighbors, Karen and Bruce Clark; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Casket bearers were Mike Fritzke, Aaron Fritzke, Charlie Rosckes, Matt Rosckes, Shawn Koehnen, and Jake Rosckes.
