‘Tis the season for Holasek Flower Power Garden Center

There’s no such thing as a dreary day at Holasek Flower Power Garden Center in Lester Prairie.

“We skip winter,” Jane Holasek joked, explaining that there’s always something fresh and colorful growing at the greenhouse.

For those who’d like a little greenery at their own place, Jane and Fred Holasek are offering “make-and-take” greens classes throughout November.

The first sessions, Nov. 8-9, coincide with a customer appreciation weekend.

“The class is a social event, and we serve refreshments,” Jane said.

The garden center is also a great place to get poinsettias for the holiday season, with 23 color variations.

This year’s newest hue, a deep wine, is called “Christmas Feelings Merlot.”

“I have a feeling it’s going to be very popular,” retail manager Jason Ziermann said.

Mixed green wreaths are also a big pre-Christmas item. Many people prefer 25-inch wreaths, but other sizes – up to 6 feet – are also available.

A fun piece the garden center offers is the “kissing ball,” which features a sphere of greenery suspended from a ribbon.

Holasek Flower Power Garden Center is located at 18364 County Road 9 in Lester Prairie. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Closed Sundays.)

Customers are welcome to sign up for the center’s weekly newsletter, which offers special discounts, gardening tips, and horticulture news. To learn more, call (320) 395-2780, go to, or check out “Holasek Flower Power” on Facebook.
