Minnesota's 2000 fishing opener is set for Saturday, May 13. An early spring and warm water temperatures should make for an excellent opener on lakes in our area.
Boaters and anglers should take note that water levels on area lakes and rivers are very low at this time. According to several reports, some lakes are down as much as six feet, and it as been difficult getting boats in and out of the water on a few lakes.
The Lester Prairie Sportsmen's Club will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse.
The application deadline for the 2000 Minnesota black bear hunting season is May 5.
To prevent a headache and have more fun fishing, put new line on your fishing reels before you head to the water this spring.
