TerraCycle wants your trash
Press Release

This summer TerraCycle wants hikers, bikers, campers, fisherman, and any other outdoor enthusiasts to collect and return wrappers, cans, and bags from the products they use while enjoying the great outdoors.

In return, TerraCycle will donate 2 cents to your favorite charity and repurpose, the non-recyclable packaging into eco-friendly, affordable, practical products.

TerraCycle’s Brigade programs are free to consumers and even provide free shipping for outdoor lovers to return energy bar wrappers, granola bags, and much more.

The Brigade motto “pack it in, pack it out” encourages you to take all of your trash out of the park and from camping/biking/hiking/fishing trips.

Through the Brigade people can send in difficult-to-recycle food wrappers such as Kashi, Bear Naked, CLIF BAR, and Revolution Foods to earn cash for charity (programs accept any brands, not just sponsors).

TerraCycle upcycles some wrappers into tote bags, coolers, notebooks, laptop cases and mini-speakers.

Wrappers that aren’t upcycled are melted down and turned into plastics such as trashcans, flower pots, and clipboards.

Anyone can sign up for TerraCycle’s Brigade programs and send in their wrappers for free.

This would be especially fun for family trips.

For every wrapper TerraCycle receives, two points are awarded that can be put toward a gift for charity or converted to money and donated to a charity of the participants choice.

By recycling the snacks that hikers/fisherman use while enjoying the outdoors can become eco-friendly, long-life products that support the environment that outdoor lovers are enjoying.

Instead of just leaving no trace on the parks, hikers and outdoorsmen can also leave no trace on the planet while supporting charities at the same time.
